Abstract: The study aimed to identify the regional disparities in industrial development of the districts in Kerala. All the fourteen districts of Kerala were covered under the study. The study mainly focus on industrial data from the last five year periods (2016-2021). The level of development was estimated with the help of composite index and based on that, the district Thiruvananthapuram is ranked first with lowest composite index value which is 0.435 and it is followed by the districts Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kannur respectively. Based on the composite index the districts Kasaragod, Pathanamthitta and Wayanad were ranked last with a larger composite index value. The districts were classified into Low, Medium and Highly developed districts based on Normal classification. Principle component regression analysis was carried out for identifying the most contributing variables in industrial sector. According to that, cooperative societies and women cooperatives were contribute more to first principal component; small scale industries and medium scale industries were contribute more to second principal component. According to these findings a conclusion can be taken such that an intervention at the district level might help the districts to advance their position in the growth of the industrial sector of that particular district and, thus, the overall socioeconomic development of the district as well as the state.
