Technical efficiency of bajra crop on different size of farms in western region of Uttar Pradesh

Abstract: Uttar Pradesh is the 2nd largest state in India. The economics of Uttar Pradesh is mainly based on agriculture and about 65% of the total population is dependent on agriculture the main crop of Uttar Pradesh is Wheat. Wheat is the state’s principal food crop and sugarcane is the main commercial crop. It is produced in the largest part of the state in about 24% of agricultural Land. Taking into account the significance of the aforementioned facts to measures the technical efficiency of Bajra crops on different size of farms in western region of Uttar Pradesh year 2014-15. The results of investigating technical efficiency of the sample farm households under bajra crops indicated that output produced was less than the potential output to the extent of about 19 per cent in bajra, respectively. On overall basis, however, much variation observed across farm size groups.
