Impact of varied storage temperatures and packaging materials on longevity of kinnow (Citrus reticulate Blanco.)

Abstract: This study investigated the effects of various storage temperatures and packaging materials on the shelf life of Kinnow (Citrus reticulate Blanco.). Fresh and mature Kinnow fruits were subjected to different packaging treatments including newspaper, brown paper bags, aluminum foil, perforated bags, gunny bags, nylon net bags, and LDPE. The fruits were stored under controlled conditions, and parameters such as fruit weight, radial diameter, polar diameter, rag weight, and peel weight were measured periodically. The results indicated significant differences in shelf life depending on the packaging material and storage temperature used. This research contributes to understanding optimal conditions for prolonging the shelf life of Kinnow fruits.
