Abstract: Agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy. In India around 70 per cent of the population is dependent upon agriculture for their livelihood. The major cereal producing states of the country are West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar etc. Gujarat being one of the fastest growing states in India with a higher growth in agriculture sector, it is interesting to study the performance of one of the major cereal like bajra in Gujarat. For studying the temporal performance of bajra, trend analysis was done by using time–series data on area, production and productivity of bajra. The results revealed that exponential, compound and quadratic models were found to be best model for future estimation of area, production and productivity for bajra in Gujarat respectively.
