Abstract: This study investigates the profile of farmers utilizing Custom Hiring Centers (CHCs) in ten villages across the Akola and Balapur tehsils of Akola District, Maharashtra. The research specifically focuses on the provision of agricultural implements to small and marginal farmers at subsidized rates. Data were collected through interviews with 120 respondents. The findings reveal that the majority of farmers (37.50%) were in the middle-aged category. A significant proportion of respondents (30.83%) had completed higher secondary education, and agriculture was the primary occupation for 57.50% of them. Most farmers were found to have small land holdings, with 47.50% reporting small-sized farms. In terms of farm machinery, 48.33% of farmers owned a moderate amount of implements, and 60.83% rented agricultural equipment from Custom Hiring Canters at a medium scale. These findings highlight the role of CHCs in providing affordable access to farm machinery, particularly for small-scale farmers.
