Modelling and evaluation of 1-out-of-3 system reliability using extension of bivariate Freund distribution

Author(s): Saraswati V Katagi and SB Munoli

Abstract: This study analyzes the reliability of a 1-out-of-3 system using the Freund bivariate exponential model to account for dependent component failures. The mean residual life (MRL), hazard rate and reliability function expressions are derived and analyzed under various failure rate scenarios. Maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) is employed for reliability estimation and a simulation study confirms the consistency of the estimators. The model effectively captures dynamics of reliability, failure rate, MRL due to failure of components in 1-out-of-3 system making it suitable for applications in mechanical and computational systems with redundant configurations.
